Doctor Who: Rosa Episode 3 aired yesterday and we have our list of our top quotes from the episode.  Some of these are humourous but a number of them stress the gravitas and importance of this episode.

We found out once again that the Doctor has been handing out more  universal mobile phones.

Graham: You haven’t got Elvis’ phone number?
The Doctor: Don’t let anyone know I lent him a mobile phone.

Later in the episode:

The Doctor: Good Job Elvis lent Frank that phone against everything I told him.

Graham was very protective of the remaining member of his family.

Man on the Street: Is this your boy?
Graham:  He’s my grandson, actually.
Man on the Streets: You’re what?
Graham: My grandson.

But eating on the run doesn’t appear to be his forte.

Yaz: I’m not sure your stomach’s compatible with Time Travel, Graham

There goes the Doctor again. Insulting the TARDIS.

The Doctor about the Tardis: Huge mileage. One careless owner.

And just who shredded that print the other week?

Graham: You ain’t Banksy
The Doctor: Or am I?

The Doctor: Banksey doesn’t have one of those. Or do I?
(Aside: Can we call The Doctor the Oncoming Shredder?)

Graham is Steve Jobs. Who knew? (Pun intended.)

Graham: We’re here to pitch an invention. It’s a telephone that plays music and it’s a camera also takes photos. And it’s a calendar. And it sends letters.=
Police Officer: Sounds ridiculous. What’s your name sir?
Graham: Steve. Jobs. Steve Jobs.

And this is by far Yaz’s best speech of the series.

Yaz: I get call a Paki when I’m sorting out a domestic or a terrorist when I’m coming home from the mosque. But they don’t win those people. I can be a police officer now because people like Rosa Parks fought those battles for me.  For us.  And in 53 years they will have a Black president as leader.  Who knows where they’ll be 50 years after that.  That’s proper change.

Time travel criminals shouldn’t mess with Ryan.

Ryan: Mate you’re living in the past.  You’re living there that much why don’t you stay there.

And finally, what happen during that bus ride in 1955 Montgomery Alabama.

James Blake: Use the door for coloureds.  The law is the law.

Yaz: We’re here. We’re part of the story. Part of history.
Graham: No no, I don’t’ want to be part of this.
The Doctor:  We have to. I’m sorry. We have to not help her.

James Blake: Stand up now.
Rosa Parks: I don’t’ think I should have to.
James Blake: ARE YOU GOING TO STAND UP?
Rosa Parks: No.
James Blake: If you don’t stand I’m gonna have you arrested.
Rosa Parks: You may do that.

Ryan: It took so long. It took her whole life.
The Doctor: Yes, it did but she changed the world.  In fact, she changed the universe.

The song at the end was appropriately,  Rise Up by Andra Day.
