At last you can plan when to be at home to New Year’s Day visitors
Just a couple of days ago it was officially confirmed that Doctor Who would be back on New Year’s Day. Now we know exactly when. Part one of Spyfall will air at 6.55pm. This places it at the heart of the BBC’s New Year’s Day schedule, between a Miranda special, My Such Fun Celebration, and a special hour long EastEnders. While at 9pm, we’ll be getting the first episode of Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat’s new vision of Dracula.
BBC America have also revealed the time slot for the North American premiere. Series 12 will kick off there on New Year’s Day at 8/7c, and keep the 8/7c slot for every Sunday for the rest of the season. So American fans will be able to enjoy Spyfall just five hours after the UK.
Doctor Who is just one of a number of other highlights of the BBC festive schedule. A new Worzel Gummidge (with Mackenzie Crook taking on Jon Pertwee’s other iconic role) at 6.20pm on Boxing Day. Meanwhile Christmas Day sees the return of sitcom Gavin & Stacey, co-created by and featuring James Corden (The Lodger, Closing Time).
