Released today from Big Finish, the epic Gallifrey: Time War saga comes to its colossal conclusion
The Time Lords and the Daleks have opposed one another across millennia. But now, as their conflict tips into an all-out Time War, nowhere across the universe of spacetime is safe. This is the fourth and final volume in this Doctor Who spin-off series of full-cast audio dramas from Big Finish. And Gallifrey: Time War 4 features characters new and old as they battle it out across space and time for the very heart of Gallifrey. Including Richard Armitage as the latest incarnation of Rassilon, Lord President of the Time Lords.
Previously announced as returning are Lalla Ward and Louise Jameson (Doctor Who), and Seán Carlsen, Miles Richardson, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Samuel Clemens and Nicholas Briggs. Alongside them are George Asprey (The Diary of River Song, Star Cops), Omar Austin (Torchwood), Anna Carteret (Juliet Bravo, Holby City), Susie Emmett (Survivors), Steven Flynn (Emmerdale), Samuel Gosrani (Gallifrey: Time War 2) and Debbie Korley (Night & Day).
The popular Doctor Who spin off is drawing to a close after two decades of drama and intrigue
Producer Scott Handcock said: “After ten years of working on the Gallifrey series, it’s strange to come to an end and conclude this chapter of the ongoing story. The Time War has taken us to places and explored our characters in ways we haven’t before, and volume four is no exception. Romana, Leela and Narvin (and even Brax) return for a final reunion; old enemies like the Daleks and the Ravenous lie in wait for our heroes; and we even have a new incarnation of Rassilon (played by the brilliant Richard Armitage) to wage war against the cosmos. It’s been a thrill to bring these adventures to life on audio!”
Script editor and writer Matt Fitton added: “Gallifrey: Time War has a special place in my heart. The Gallifrey series is one of the longest running, we’ve been following these characters for the best part of two decades now. I just adored the whole introduction, the set-up, Romana and Leela, the head and the heart at the centre of power on Gallifrey and all the machinations. It’s been compared to The West Wing, or Dynasty with even bigger collars, but it’s so much more than that. It’s about politics, it’s about running a society, it’s about irresponsibility and power.”
Gallifrey: Time War 4
Romana is lost to the Time War though Leela and Narvin still fight to survive.
A resistance, caught between Rassilon’s fury and the Dalek Emperor’s mania, have a desperate plan to stop the conflict. Everything ends. And for some on Gallifrey, the Time War will soon be over.
