Doctor Who Comic Special 2022 will feature comic book A-listers Dan Slott and Adam Hughes on script and cover duties
Titan Comics announced last month that A-list comic book author Dan Slott (The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk) would be scripting three Doctor Who specials. Effectively annuals for Titan’s range, the specials will appear over the next three years. Each special will feature a different Doctor and companion team. First up is a new adventure for the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones. The lead story will feature art by Christopher Jones (Young Justice). The special will also feature a back-up strip by Slott and artist Matthew Dow Smith (Nightcrawler.) A back up strip starring none other than the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler!
As if that wasn’t enough excitement, the cover has now been revealed. And it’s by veritable comic book legend Adam Hughes (Justice League America, Wonder Woman)! Hughes’ typically brilliant cover for the Doctor Who 2022 Special captures the energy of the Series Three duo like never before!
Talking about the new project, Dan Slott described himself as thrilled to finally be playing in one of his favourite universes. “One of the worst secrets in comics is that I am one of the world’s biggest whovians!” he said. “I’ve been regularly watching Doctor Who since the Tom Baker years, and am deeply devoted to every incarnation of the show! I’ve been waiting to write stories for the Doctor my whole life! And I couldn’t be happier than getting a chance to tell an all-new tale of the Tenth Doctor – and to be doing this with Chris and all the fine folks at Titan! Allons-y!”
