Sir Derek “Del” Jacobi was a guest on BBC Breakfast earlier this morning. During his interview he chatted about playing The Master in Utopia and was also asked about playing The Doctor, which he seems to have forgotten about and got a little bit confused with the online series Scream of the Shalka (DVD out today, review HERE). Watch his interview in the player above.
Fact fans will note that Jacobi did indeed play “Doctor Who” in the superb Big Finish audio Doctor Who: Unbound – Deadline as well as The Master in both Scream of the Shalka and Utopia

  1. What a great actor and a great Master! I wish HE were coming back in the 50th instead of The Hurt-Insert. 😉

Honestly, I would love to see an episode of whatnot that unites all the living Masters. That would have to be a Doctor's last story before he regenerates, as no Doctor could handle all the Masters teaming up against him.

Sir Derek Jacobi, John Simm, Eric Roberts, and Geoffrey Beavers are all still with us and active. We're missing Peter Pratt, Anthony Ainley, and the original…Sir Roger Delgado.

  2. I just stumbled across the factoid that Scream of the Shalka and the Doctor Who Unbound story Deadline were recorded during the same two-day period in 2003, so if that information is correct then it might explain why Jacobi doesn't recall also recording the Doctor for Big Finish.
