David Tennant returns to television in yet another crime drama. Tonight, Friday 10th January at 9pm, Deadwater Fell airs on Channel 4. Tennant stars as Dr Tom Kendrick, a local GP and a trusted, admired and much-liked member of the community.
Tom is also a seemingly happily married family man with three little girls and a loving marriage to Kate (Anna Madeley – Patrick Melrose, The Crown, Utopia). Kate is a primary school teacher who works with her best friend and closest confidante, Jess Milner (Cush Jumbo – The Good Fight, The Good Wife, Vera).
One night a horrible and terrifying crime takes place. Kate and her three daughters are found dead inside the family home as the building is burnt to the ground. But there is one survivor – Tom. As he is rushed to hospital, all suspicion turns to him as the police realise that the family was dead before the fire started.
Jess met and married Steve, the town’s police sergeant, 6 years ago. A wanderer and outsider she was happy in the small Scottish village of Kirkdarroch helping her husband raise his two sons. But as Jess and Steve try to understand why this lovely family has been killed, their relationship becomes more strained.
Deadwater Fell written and created by Daisy Coulam (Humans, Grantchester) consist of four 1 hour episodes that air over several consective Fridays. With an all-star, cast and creative team, the crime drama is expected to be the must see television for Friday nights.
