Included here are some promotional pictures of David Tennant in the upcoming drama from the BBC, United – click on them for bigger versions. It has been written by Who writer Chris Chibnall (42 and The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood) and directed by James Strong (The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit and Planet of the Dead amongst others). Read Blogtor’s review HERE and the synopsis below:

United is based on the true story of Manchester United’s legendary “Busby Babes”, the youngest side ever to win the Football League; the 1958 Munich Air Crash that claimed eight of their number; and the extraordinary spirit of a city that rebuilt the team in the wake of the disaster.

David Tennant stars as coach Jimmy Murphy, alongside Jack O’Connell (Skins, Dive) as Bobby Charlton and Sam Claflin (Pirates Of The Caribbean, Any Human Heart) as star player Duncan Edwards. Manager Matt Busby is played by Dougray Scott. The film draws on first-hand interviews with the survivors and their families to tell the inspirational story of a team and community overcoming terrible tragedy.

The Munich Air Crash killed 23 of the 43 passengers onboard, including supporters, journalists and embassy staff.

  1. Wow, I never knew David Tennant's face could look so….ugly.

That first pic, I almost couldn't recognize him.

  2. @Bryan The character he plays wasn't quite as handsome as Tennant and 8 years older. Amazing how different he can look.

Good on him for not going for the "pretty" roles — even if it scares away some of the more stupid fans who like him only because he's handsome. An insult to an actor of his calibre.

    Can't wait to watch this.
…and Clint Mansell wrote the score! 😮

  3. Am waiting to see this. From all the reviews sounds an amazing drama and very emotional. It is brilliant how David Tennant can change his appearance to suit the character he is playing. A truly gifted actor. Great to see him back on TV. Hope he does more TV drama.
