David Tennant and Neil Gaiman will take to the stage later today for the Good Omens panel at New York Comic Con. They will be joined by fellow members of the cast and crew, including director Douglas Mackinnon, plus actors Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson, and Michael Sheen. The panel will be moderated by legendary actress Whoopi Goldberg.
This panel is taking place well ahead of the premiere of Good Omens, which is set for next year. The series will be a long-awaited screen adaptation of the novel of the same name written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, first published in 1990. Good Omens follows angel Aziraphale (Sheen) and demon Crowley (Tennant) as they attempt to avert the apocalypse. Along the way, they encounter an eclectic cast of characters, including a witch (and witch-finders), the four horse-persons of the apocalypse, and an eleven-year-old boy who just so happens to be the Antichrist, as they race to stop the end of the world.
The Good Omens panel will take place from 10:00am – 11:00am EDT at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.
A whole host of familiar faces from the world of Doctor Who can be found within the cast and crew of Good Omens appearing at today’s panel. Most notably, Tenth Doctor David Tennant stars in one of the leading roles as sharp and suave demon Crowley. Taking on the other lead role is Michael Sheen, who plays the sensible and stoic angel Aziraphale. Doctor Who fans will remember Sheen as the voice of House in 2011’s The Doctor’s Wife.
Similarly, Good Omens showrunner Neil Gaiman is no doubt recognisable among fans of Doctor Who as having written two Eleventh Doctor stories, namely The Doctor’s Wife (2011) and Nightmare in Silver (2013). Douglas Mackinnon has also directed a number of Doctor Who episodes since 2008, including The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky, as well as Listen, and The Husbands of River Song.
Elsewhere, Doctor Who viewers will also recognise many of those who make up the cast of Good Omens not in attendance at today’s panel. Also starring in this upcoming show are Mark Gatiss, Steven Pemberton (Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead) and Reece Shearsmith (Sleep No More), as well as Derek Jacobi (Utopia), Paul Kaye (Under the Lake/Before the Flood), Daniel Mays (Night Terrors) and David Morrissey (The Next Doctor).
