The Royal Albert Hall and BAFTA have got together to present a very exciting event next month featuring the legend that is Doctor Who composer, Murray Gold. Full details below:
In this new series, major composers for film, television and video games join us in the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room. Using clips from their work, they’ll talk to broadcaster and promoter Tommy Pearson about the development of creative ideas in their music for the screen.
A composer for television, stage and film and a dramatist for both theatre and radio, Murray has been the composer of choice when it comes to scoring the most innovative programmes on television.
He’s beloved for lush orchestral score that retain a strong melody and a sense of play. Gold has been BAFTA nominated four times for his television work on his ground-breaking score to Doctor Who, and also on Casanova, Queer as Folk and Vanity Fair.
In The Guardian’s 2010 feature ‘The Top 10 TV dramas of all time’ three series had scores from Murray, including Clocking Off and Channel 4’s controversial drama series Shameless. Recent projects in theatre and radio include 2010’s Rocket to the Moon at the National Theatre, and not content to rest on his music laurels Murray’s radio play Kafka the Musical won David Tennant a BBC Best Audio Drama award for his portrayal of Kafka.
