In case you were hiding under a rock today the lovely Olivia Colman won Best Actress at the Academy Awards for her role in The Favourite. This is the first win for a British actress since Kate Winslet won in 2009.
Olivia first became known to fans in the UK in comedy – The Peep Show. She also starred alongside the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant in Chris Chibnall’s Broadchurch. But Doctor Who fans will recognise from Matt Smith’s debut episode – The Eleventh Hour and Peter Davison’s 50th Anniversary short, The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot.
This writer has had the pleasure to have met and chatted to Britain’s latest Oscar winner. Olivia Colman, Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall were at a signing for Erin Kelly’s novelisation of Broadchurch. She made me laugh and was a delight to talk to – exactly like her acceptance speech.
Congratulations Olivia from all of us at Blogtor.
