Doctor Who comic book legend Dave Gibbons autobiography arrives next month

Dave Gibbons forthcoming autobiography, Conflabulation: An Anecdotal Autobiography is almost here. One of Britain’s most celebrated comic book artists, Gibbons also has a strong associated with Doctor Who. He was the artist on the very first comic strip in Doctor Who Weekly (now Doctor Who Magazine) with his fantastic work on The Iron Legion helping launch the magazine into a national institution.

He would go on to draw some of the most iconic adventures for the Fourth and Fifth Doctors. These included Tides of Time, which is often cited as one of the all time great Who comics. Gibbons’ The Star Beast is even set to be adapted for television, with his creation Beep the Meep featuring in the Series Fourteen trailer. Most recently he returned for Doctor Who Magazine 500 to draw some of the pages for the celebratory The Stockbridge Showdown.

Of course, Dave Gibbons has also worked on some of the seminal comic books of the last fifty years. For 2000ad he co-created one of their most iconic characters, the Genetic Infantryman known as Rogue Trooper. In America his work includes Give Me Liberty with Frank Miller and its sequels starring Martha Washington. But perhaps most famous as all is his collaboration with Alan Moore, Watchmen: the 12 issue series that would change the face of comics forever.
