The BBC has released a new video snippet from Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall ahead of the start of Doctor Who Series 11.

The new video clip from the BBC, released through the broadcaster’s official Doctor Who account, features clips from the recently-released trailer of the new Doctor Who cast in action alongside footage of Chibnall discussing what’s in store for viewers in the new series.

“I hope you can expect everything you’ve always loved about Doctor Who,” he says. “You can expect emotion, you can expect action and adventure, and monsters and far-off planets, and huge alien vistas. You can expect a lot of humour, a lot of warmth and some great characters.”

Today’s clip follows a short video that fans were treated to yesterday featuring the Thirteenth Doctor herself, Jodie Whittaker, discussing how the upcoming series ‘embraces the old and the new‘ – as well as giving us a glimpse at a new variant of her costume!

Chris Chibnall shared further insights into Series 11 during a special Doctor Who Q&A held after last week’s world premiere in Sheffield. Whilst the showrunner stayed tight-lipped on the specifics, he did say about the new series: “What we’ve tried to do is just show the range of what Doctor Who can do, visually, emotionally, geographically, time and space. The whole range of everything.”

He also teased that audiences could expect ‘an amazing new Doctor’, adding: “I think just turning up every Sunday night for a new adventure is the big thing, but also these guys go on big emotional journeys across the series, as well.”
