The Twelfth Doctor’s time in the TARDIS is coming to an end. And you might even say it already has for the actor Peter Capaldi since he has completed all his work filming this year’s Christmas Special. But before he departed from the set of Twice Upon a Time, super fan and radio personality Jo Whiley.

Whiley had exclusive access to the Doctor Who set and was able to catch up with the Doctor Who team including Pearl Mackie, David Bradley, Exec Producer extraordinaire Steven Moffat, and the Doctor himself, Peter Capaldi.  She also managed to sneak in a chat with former companion Matt Lucas.

Whiley is not a stranger to Doctor Who exclusives.  If you recall, Peter Capaldi announced his departure on her radio programme earlier this year.

But it is the Christmas special – Twice Upon a Time that she is covering this time around.  And some of the stories that will be discussed on Thursday’s Radio 2 special include:

  • How Matt approaches being recognised by fans
  • The radical ways in which Pearl’s life has changed
  • Brazil’s famed footballer, Pele’s reaction to signing a Brazil shirt for the Doctor
  • And how much Doctor Who has always been with Peter Capaldi, from dressing up as a Dalek as a child to karaoke singalongs to The Killers
  • And which member of the Doctor Who Team has a liking Chas and Dave!

You can catch Jo Whiley and Peter Capaldi, David Bradley, Steven Moffat, Pearl Mackie, Matt Lucas and the rest on BBC Radio 2 on Thursday, 21st December at 8pm in the Doctor Who Special.

Doctor Who – Twice Upon a Time airs on Christmas Day at 5:30 pm on BBC One. The final episode for showrunner Steven Moffat features Peter Capaldi and David Bradley as the First and Twelfth Doctors.  It will be the first appearance of the Thirteen Doctor Jodie Whittaker

You can listen to Jo Whiley – Access All Areas Doctor Who Special on BBC Radio 2 worldwide at 8:00 pm GMT Thursday 21st December.

Doctor Who – Twice Upon a Time airs on BBC One at 5:30 pm GMT and on BBC America 8/9 pm, Christmas Day.  The episode also features Mark Gatiss as the Captain, Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts and Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteen Doctor.
