ITV have announced today that John Barrowman will be part of this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
John Barrowman, who is most famous (or infamous!) for playing the incredible Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood will appear in the ITV ratings juggernaut show, which is set in the Australian…ahem…’jungle’.

Also going into the celebrity jungle are: –
DIY bloke and middle-aged heart-throb Nick Knowles
X Factor singer/rapper/songwriter Fleur East
Legendary football manager Harry Redknapp
Inbetweeners actress Emily Atak
The Governess from TV quiz show The Chase Anne Hegerty
Coronation Street actress Sair Khan
Lead singer and guitarist with The Vamps James McVey
Eastenders’ Roxy Mitchell Rita Simons
Hollyoaks actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer
“Fabulous!”
On his impending trip into the jungle, Barrowman says
“I would love to be the King and Queen of the Jungle!”
He also says that the show’s famously gruesome bush tucker trials don’t frighten him, exclaiming, “Eating bums, balls and willies, I’m totally cool with!”
He says he’s looking forward to some ‘me’ time, but we’re not sure how much of it will be available in Oz. We do know that he will be glorious and we’ll be hooked to our screens.
Barrowman is much loved by Doctor Who fandom (and Blogtor Who) for his love of the show and its spin-off Torchwood. He first appeared as everyone’s favourite irrepressible, omnisexual, space agent from the 51st century in the 2005 television episode The Empty Child (which was famously written by Steven Moffat who would go on to be Doctor Who’s showrunner from 2010 to 2016-17) and has continued in the role up to this year’s Big Finish audio adventures.
Barrowman’s appearances at San Diego Comic Con are the stuff of wonder. And because we will never tire of it, here is John Barrowman. In a sparkly TARDIS dress. Singing Copacabana. Altogether now….
