Big Finish’s #Lockdownload strand continues to provide Doctor Who fans with free adventures to help pass the time more quickly

If the past couple of weeks have taught us anything, it’s that Doctor Who fans and pros “are good in a crisis, I’ll give them that,” as Jackie Tyler once nearly said. Big Finish Productions also continues to rise to the challenge this week. Not only in keeping content available to customers as downloads (with the accompanying CDs shipping at a later date). Or even in using modern technology to keep new productions coming as cast and crew work remotely. Moreover, they’re also helping fans in lockdown stay sane with free weekly downloads in their #Lockdownloads series. This week, it’s the turn of Doctor Who: The Beginning to be completely free from their site.

Every Monday, a new story (or episode from a box set collection) can be downloaded exclusively from the Big Finish web site’s Weekly Deals page at https://www.bigfinish.com/collections/v/weekly-deals.

These stories can be unlocked by anyone who has registered for a Big Finish account (which is free to create.) As well as being downloadable, they can also played on the Big Finish app (which is free to install).  Each story will be available for one week only, and also comes accompanied by a special discount offer on related titles.

The Beginning brings us back to where it all started

Doctor Who – The Companion Chronicles: The Beginning, written by Marc Platt, stars Carole Ann Ford as the Doctor’s granddaughter Susan and Terry Molloy as the Time Lord Quadrigger Stoyn. This story marks the maiden voyage of the Doctor inside a Type 40 TARDIS he chose to steal. Because this is the day he and his granddaughter Susan fled from Gallifrey. The Beginning was originally released in November 2013, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who. The Companion Chronicles strand of Big Finish audio dramas use a limited cast and a mix of dramatization and in character narration from the Doctor’s companions to reveal untold adventures from the past.
