Today marks the release of a special Big Finish vinyl exclusive to Sainsbury’s supermarkets. Fourth Doctor Adventure ‘Energy of the Daleks‘ starring Tom Baker and Louise Jameson is now available at selected locations.
In an exclusive deal with Sainsbury’s supermarket, from the 25 May 2018 Sainsbury’s will be stocking a strictly limited pressing of Energy of the Daleks on blue 180gm heavyweight vinyl. The release is available from participating stores only is and limited to only 1,500 units. A spokesperson from Sainsbury’s said: “We’re really excited to be stocking something as iconic as the Doctor in our stores, so to have Energy of the Daleks in a limited run on blue vinyl is a massive treat for us.”
The Daleks take on Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor in a Doctor Who full-cast audio drama from 2012. This adventure takes place between The Talons of Weng-Chiang and Horror of Fang Rock, broadcast on BBC One in 1977.
The Fourth Doctor and his companion Leela (Louise Jameson) find themselves in the middle of London at the time of a new energy crisis. The GlobeSphere Corporation seems to have all the answers – but several thousand protesters beg to differ.
The Doctor has detected a mysterious energy reading. Could it be that the most evil creatures in the universe have returned to claim ultimate victory once and for all?
Energy of the Daleks was the first adventure since 1979’s Destiny of the Daleks in which Tom Baker has battled the Skarosian menace. For Louise Jameson, reprising her role as companion Leela, it was a first. Leela’s opening encounter with the Daleks is not going to be a pleasant experience. Is the Sevateem warrior ready for 21st Century Earth? Then again, is the 21st Century ready for Leela?
“We’ve been delighted by the response to our ongoing range of Fourth Doctor stories,” says executive producer and director of Energy of the Daleks, Nicholas Briggs. “We have such an exciting and rewarding time making them, and we’re just thrilled that we’ll be reaching a brand new audience for vinyl through our friends at Sainsbury’s.”
Guest stars include, Mark Benton (Doctor Who: Rose and Strictly Come Dancing), Alex Lowe (The Thick of It and Peep Show), TV Sontaran Dan Starkey and Nicholas Briggs as the Daleks.
