The September release of Big Finish’s 60th Anniversary celebration series Doctor Who: Once and Future continues with David Tennant portraying the Doctor.   But this time, he is returning as the Tenth Doctor.

While the Doctor continues to battle with his degeneration, he must face his old enemy, the Master.  Well, not quite. Missy (Michelle Gomez) is up to her old tricks, creating chaos with an army of invading tripods straight out of the pages of an HG Wells novel.  Joining the Tenth Doctor is The Paternoster Gang, including Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart) and Strax (Dan Starkey).

This story is sure to be a treat as who would be better to banter with Michelle Gomez than fellow Scot David Tennant.

Series producer David Richardson confirms that the pairing was magical. “To have all of these wonderfully rich characters together was a treat, and to have David Tennant and Michelle Gomez going head-to-head was joyous. Michelle loves to play with the script, and she improvised beautifully – and David took her improvisations and matched her.

The improvisation proved to be a challenge to producer Richardson.  “During the recording, I wondered how much might make it to the edit, but it’s all there within the final scenes. Joyous – I’ve used the word again. I’ve no other way to describe it.”
