Big Finish has announced a new exciting Torchwood box set – ‘The Lives of Captain Jack’. Featuring among the cast is Doctor Who’s very own Jackie Tyler, Camille Coduri.

In June 2017, Coduri will join John Barrowman for a brand new type of Torchwood story. Previous Big Finish Torchwood tales have focused on the original team’s protection of the human race from all things odd arriving on planet earth. But this set is slightly different. There will still be monsters, suspense and scares but set in some of Captain Jack’s other lives.

Captain Jack is an immortal adventurer with a wicked sense of everything – has led an extraordinary set of lives. We all know he travelled with the Doctor, we all know he ran Torchwood – but what else did he get up to?

What’s New?

These 4 new full cast audio adventures will shed a little light. Jack will be seen in different times and on different planets, doing battle with a variety of strange and horrible enemies, from Mother Nothing to the Council Of Three.

“I find it really easy to slip into Captain Jack,” laughs John Barrowman. “There’s a bit of Jack in John and vice versa. What’s great about these stories is that they’re the kind of episode we didn’t have time for on TV – exploring aspects of Jack that you’ve never seen before in a timeywimey way. And getting to work with Camille was amazing. If you’re a fan of Captain Jack, or Torchwood or Doctor Who, then I say get them.”

Great Times

John Barrowman is an avid user of social media and some may remember back in May when he posted a picture on Twitter showing himself and Camille Coduri in the recording studio. The post was titled ‘What is happening here?? In the studio?? #DrWho Camille Coduri and JB’. Not exactly Doctor Who but close enough.

Writer and director of this new box set is James Goss. Goss also has fond memories of the time spent working on these new adventures. “We love John. He understands Captain Jack like no-one else, and easily provided the various versions of him – having just spent three days playing Torchwood Jack, he suddenly delivered preppy Time Agent Jack, Satellite 5 Jack, End of Time Jack, and effortlessly locked horns with Jackie Tyler. Watching him together in the studio with Camille was genuinely one of the happiest days of my life. We were so lucky to get John, and can’t wait to get him back.”

More Familiar Voices

Also joining the cast is ex-Doctor Who companion Katy Manning (Jo Grant), Russell Tovey, Alonso – Doctor Who Voyage of the Damned and Alexander Vlahos (Versailles, and Big Finish’s The Confessions of Dorian Gray). British actress Sarah Douglas (Superman I, Superman II, Space 1999, V, Strippers vs Werewolves), Wizard & Aliens actor Scott Haran and Aaron Neil (Doctor Who spin-off Class) are also along for the bumpy ride.

The new stories include:

THE YEAR AFTER I DIED: Set in the year 200,101, on an Earth ravaged by the Daleks, we see Jack struggling to save humanity from its oldest enemy.

WEDNESDAYS FOR BEGINNERS: Jack and Jackie Tyler (Camille Coduri) must unite to rescue the Powell Estate from a force whose name Jackie can never say.

ONE ENCHANTED EVENING: Captain Jack and Alonso Frame (Russell Tovey) have only just met. But why did the Doctor want them to be together?

MONTH 25: He’s the young star of the Time Agency, and his whole life is about to fall apart. But that’s not going to stop him winning.
