Rose Tyler is Trapped!
Today Big Finish have released cover artwork and story details for Billie Piper’s latest portrayal of the iconic Rose Tyler. In this latest audio adventure, Rose continues her battle to find her original universe and, more importantly, to find the Doctor before all the stars go out in all universes.
Set in a parallel universe, before she finds the Tenth Doctor in 2008’s TV episode, The Stolen Earth, Rose Tyler: The Dimension Cannon – Trapped, also features Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler. Also appearing is a new character, Danni, portrayed by Em Thane. Danni is someone who will form a close bond with Rose.
This new audio drama is set to be released in September 2023.
Actor Billie Piper credits Doctor Who fans with encouraging her return to Rose Tyler. “It’s exciting to record The Dimension Cannon and play the part again, but it’s even more thrilling when the fans learn about it, listen to it and then discuss it with me when I meet them at conventions. It doesn’t feel over. Rose Tyler has more life in her yet.”
Emily Cook, the woman of many hats – Lockdown Tweetalong producer (thank you for your instrumental role in 60th Anniversary specials) and Doctor Who Magazine author, takes on her third role as Big Finish producer.
Cook adds more context to this third volume of stories. “While The Dimension Cannon – Other Worlds followed pretty much the same format as the first volume (i.e. each episode took Rose and co. to a different parallel Earth), we wanted to mix things up with volume three and do something a little different. We ended Other Worlds on a cliffhanger – what happened to Rose? – and in Trapped, we pick up straight after that. Wherever Rose went, she’s now trapped there for the duration of this series… and this reality is stranger and more dangerous than anywhere she’s been before. This series is essentially Rose’s quest to get herself back so she can find the Doctor.”
The volume, as with many of Big Finish’s recent outings, features multi-talented Helen Goldwyn in the dual role as director and writer for the volume.
