Big Finish - Legacy of Death
Big Finish – Legacy of Death

The Doctor, Romana, and K9 have found themselves trapped in a temporal war. On Aoris, the past battles the future – and the future fights back! With both sides of the war now capable of time travel, the conflict is about to enter a deadly stage. As the pieces of history lock into place, there is little the Doctor can do. With more Time Tanks moving into combat, the endgame is approaching. The people of Aoris risk extinction at their own hand. Can even the Doctor save the same planet twice in the same day?

Legacy of Death follows swiftly on from its predecessor The Paradox Planet. This two-part story is a high-concept tale where a planet is literally at war with itself across time. In theory, this idea is original and perfect for Doctor Who, but in practice, the audio medium isn’t the best place for its presentation. The visual medium of television could have done this marvellous concept the justice it deserves, whereas on audio the plot is often confusing and hard to follow.

The assembled guest cast do a fantastic job, with particularly stand out performances from Tom Chadbon as Embery, Emma Campbell-Jones as Shola and Simon Rouse as Drang. It’s John Leeson as K9 who really steals the show.

In summation, all involved in the production of Legacy of Death give it their all and though it doesn’t reach it’s full realised potential it’s still well worth a listen.
