In this month’s new issue of Doctor Who magazine Ed Bazalgette has been confirmed as the director for this year’s Christmas Special.
Bazalgette was on board during series 9 of Doctor Who, directing the 2-parter, ‘The Girl Who Died’ and ‘The Woman Who Lived’ featuring Games of Thrones star Maisie Williams. Bazalgette was also behind the camera for the series 9 prequel, ‘The Doctor’s Meditation’.
Also returning to Doctor Who in the 60-minute festive addition is actor and comedian Matt Lucas who will reprise his role as Nardole. First seen in the 2015 Christmas outing. It is still unclear if Lucas will be the Doctors companion for this episode.
Doctor Who is a BBC Cymru Wales produced drama for BBC One. It will return in 2017 for series 10 and with new companion Bill, played by Pearl Mackie.
