The 6-part BBC drama, ‘The A Word’ featuring Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) is now available to buy on DVD and Amazon Video in the UK.

Eccleston plays grandad Maurice in this moving drama written by Peter Bowker which first aired on 22nd March 2016. It tells the story of the Hughes; an aspirational family that is like many others until six-year-old Joe is diagnosed with autism.

The cast includes Morven Christie (Grantchester), Lee Ingleby (Our Zoo) and Greg McHugh (Fresh Meat). Along with Vinette Robinson (Sherlock) and newcomer, six-year-old Max Vento.  It is directed by the twice Academy-nominated director Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty, Rev) and produced by Marcus Wilson (Doctor Who, Life On Mars).

‘The A Word’ is executive produced for Fifty Fathoms by Patrick Spence, Peter Bowker and Jenny Frayn, Sara Johnson and Avi Nir for Keshet. Lucy Richer will executive produce for BBC One. It is being directed by Academy-nominated Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty, Rev) and produced by Marcus Wilson (Doctor Who).
