TV Choice has released their longlist nominees for the 2017 TV Choice Awards and Doctor Who is nominated in three categories!
The TV Choice publication hosts its own annual awards show that is propelled by the general public. The public will be voting for favourite actors, actresses and British programs. Of course, among these shows is Doctor Who, an integral part of British drama and culture with its tenth series continuing its incredible history. Well received among critics and audiences alike, the show is already reaping rewards before series end. Doctor Who is ramping up its nominations in three TV Choice Award categories already.
Doctor Who receives a nod in the Best Family Drama category. The show faces stiff competition from entertainment juggernauts such as Call The Midwife (BBC1), Moving On (BBC1) and Casualty (BBC1).
Peter Capaldi is going out with a bang, deservedly nominated in the Best Actor category for his role as Doctor number 12. He will do battle with Britain’s best, including Robbie Coltrane, National Treasure (Channel 4) and Benedict Cumberbatch, Sherlock (BBC1). He will also be fighting fellow Doctors David Tennant, Broadchurch (ITV1) and Matt Smith, The Crown (Netflix).
Newcomer Pearl Mackie has a well-earned nomination in the Best Actress category. She will be up against British acting royalty. Julie Walters, National Treasure (Channel 4) and Thandie Newton, Line of Duty (BBC1) are up against her. Additionally, past companion Jenna Coleman, Victoria (ITV1) is also up for the prize.
