We are sadden to report the passing of Mark Houndy Gunther. Mark’s good friend, Wenna Blewett, informed us that the long-time Doctor Who fan had died yesterday from cancer.
Mark, who was born in London, now lives in Walthamstow. He loved Elvis Presley (his nickname is a reference to “Hound Dog”), and was a sci-fi fan from childhood. Mark became ill in December 2015 and quickly learned that his cancer was both advanced and terminal. Mark made a very short bucket list: to meet as many of the Doctor Who actors as possible, and to walk around the Millenium Falcon.
Wenna decided to help Houndy realize his dreams and started a Twitter campaign, #HelpHound. News of this young man’s wishes reached actress Lisa Bowerman, who passed along the request to various members of the Doctor Who community.
Before his passing, Mark received well wishes from the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison, the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, two familiar companions Jenna Coleman and Bille Piper along from many others.
We wish condolances to Mark’s friends and family and thank Wenna for involving us.
